McCain manager Rick Davis has e-mailed the senator's top fundraisers asking that they help Giuliani retire the debt he incurred before dropping out of the Republican primary race, The Politico reported Monday.

"While this is an unusual request, it is extremely important for the McCain campaign and the party," Davis wrote. "We need to help Mayor Giuliani retire his debt as soon as possible so we can move forward with everyone spending 100 percent of their time helping to get John McCain in the White House.

Karl Rove, for example, sent or received 140,000 e-mails on RNC servers from 2002 to 2007, and more than half involved official ".gov" accounts, the panel has said.
